Two decades of clinical oncology in urological cancers
Dr Omar Din is a Consultant and Honorary Senior Lecturer in Clinical Oncology, practising at Circle Health Thornbury in Sheffield and across GenesisCare centres in Oxford and Nottingham. He graduated from the University of Sheffield in 1997 and completed his postgraduate training in Clinical Oncology at Weston Park Cancer Centre in 2007.
His clinical focus is on urological cancers — prostate, bladder and renal (kidney) — treated with precision radiotherapy and, where it is the right choice, systemic anti-cancer therapy (chemotherapy, immunotherapy and targeted treatment). He has particular experience in Stereotactic Ablative Radiotherapy (SABR), and a specialist interest in radionuclide therapy, including Lutetium-PSMA, for advanced prostate cancer. He currently serves as Lead Clinician for Uro-Oncology Services at Weston Park Cancer Centre, having previously been Lead Clinician and Strategy Lead for Radiation Services and Interim Clinical Director for Cancer Services.
Alongside his clinical work, Dr Din undertook a Clinical Research Fellowship in Breast Cancer Endocrine Therapy from 2008 to 2010, which culminated in the award of an MD from the University of Sheffield. He was appointed a substantive Consultant and Honorary Senior Lecturer in Clinical Oncology in 2010, and is Principal Investigator on a number of clinical trials, including an international study of prostate cancer (the OASIS trial).
